Ryde
The stirrup was invented before recorded history and hasn’t changed much since. Ryde Equestrian decided that was long overdue.
Ryde Adjustable is a safety stirrup built on one insight: humans are built to stand, not sit.
“We’ve used that to create a stirrup that unlocks a rider’s full potential, at any level,” says Karin Falkemo, CEO of Ryde.
The footplate adjusts in three directions, so the stirrup fits the rider’s body instead of the other way around. That improves balance, sharpens the connection between horse and rider, and removes the need to grip the saddle just to stay steady. The wider, concave plate boosts stability and lets the body engage naturally, the way it would in a running stride.
One feature has drawn particular attention: a release mechanism that opens the stirrup and frees the rider in a fall, no matter which way the foot rotates, held shut by a magnet until it’s needed. “It’s the combination of active and passive safety that lets us call this the safest stirrup on the market,” Falkemo says.
Ryde Adjustable formally launches at Stockholm Horse Show in December 2023, though it’s already turned heads across the riding world, with a string of top riders putting it through its paces.
